Purpose & editorial approach
The atlas behind the articles
We write for travellers who would rather understand one collection than hurry through five.
A living institution, not a backdrop
Cedarwhirlscand is an independent information website about journeys centered on exceptional gardens and plant collections. Its starting point is botanical purpose: what a place grows, why those plants are there, and how a visitor can approach them intelligently.
We use luxury to mean comfort, time and thoughtful preparation—not a promise of exclusivity. A public path, a clear label and a quiet hour can offer a richer encounter than a tightly managed succession of “must-see” stops.

How to read our guidance
Institutional names and collection contexts help establish why a destination may be interesting. Suggested pairings and day structures are editorial reasoning, not verified transport connections or bookable itineraries. We do not publish permanent opening hours, ticket prices or guaranteed flowering dates.
Official institution websites are the primary reference for admission, access and closures. Conservation and regulatory claims should be checked with the relevant scientific body or public authority. Links are reading aids; they do not imply affiliation or endorsement.
What we do not claim
This atlas does not claim that every garden described has been personally inspected by an editor. It does not sell travel, arrange private access, provide visa advice or certify accessibility. Descriptions are not a substitute for asking a garden about your particular needs.
Garden-study photographs are not location evidence unless a caption specifically identifies a verified place. We avoid using an evocative image to imply that an unrelated institution looks a particular way.
Corrections and correspondence
Living collections change, and information about them can become incomplete. If you notice a misleading passage, tell us the page, the wording and the primary source that supports a correction. Please do not send sensitive personal information or private booking records.
